## Biography

Mark Wing-Davey is a British actor and director. Born on 30 November 1948 in London, he is the son of actors Peter Davey and Anna Wing. He was educated at Woolverstone Hall School and studied English at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, where he was a member of the Footlights.

He is known for playing Zaphod Beeblebrox in the BBC radio and television adaptations of *The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy* (1981). His other screen credits include Malcolm in *Absolutely Fabulous* (1992) and an appearance as Hamlet in the 1983 BBC television film *An Englishman Abroad*. Wing-Davey has directed numerous stage productions, including Caryl Churchill's *Mad Forest*, for which he received an Obie Award. He has also taught at institutions including New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.
