## Biography

Marta Cunningham is an American director, writer and producer. A native of Northern California, she began her career in the arts as a ballet dancer with the Peninsula Ballet Theatre in the Bay Area at the age of fourteen, later working as an actress in Los Angeles.

Her debut feature-length documentary *Valentine Road* (2013), about the 2008 murder of Lawrence King, competed at the Sundance Film Festival, premiered on HBO and received two News & Documentary Emmy Award nominations. Since 2016 she has directed dozens of television episodes, including on *Transparent* (2016–2017), *Insecure* (2017), *Modern Love* (2019), *The Wheel of Time* (2021) and *Chivalry* (2022), for which she also served as executive producer.
