## Biography

Martha Hillier is a British screenwriter and television producer. She read English at Christ Church, Oxford, graduating in 1994. She began her career in production on series including *EastEnders* and *Holby City* before moving into writing.

Hillier has written multiple episodes of the ITV crime drama *Vera* (2011) across series 4 to 9 (2014–2019) and served as showrunner and executive producer on seasons 4 and 5 of *The Last Kingdom* (2020–2022). She wrote the screenplay for the spin-off film *The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die* (2023) and contributed episodes to *The Halcyon* (2017) and *Versailles* (2018). She received Edgar Award nominations for her *Vera* episodes.

Recent projects include development work on a series about the Grimaldi dynasty and a contribution to the upcoming *Harry Potter* television series.
