Martin M. Goldsmith was an American screenwriter and novelist. Born in New York City on 6 November 1913, he wrote several B-movies and contributed stories to television series including *The Twilight Zone* in 1964.

His best-known work includes the screenplay for *Detour* (1945), adapted from his own 1939 novel, and the story for *The Narrow Margin* (1952), which earned an Academy Award nomination. He also wrote episodes of *Playhouse 90* and other series, and published novels such as *Double Jeopardy* (1938) and *Shadows at Noon* (1943).

Goldsmith was at one time the brother-in-law of actor Anthony Quinn. He died in Sherman Oaks, California, on 24 May 1994.
