## Biography

Martin Trenaman is an English actor and comedy writer. He is known for playing Alan Cooper, the father of Simon Cooper, in the E4 sitcom *The Inbetweeners* (2008–2010) and its feature films *The Inbetweeners Movie* (2011) and *The Inbetweeners 2* (2014).

Trenaman began as a stand-up comedian and won the So You Think You're Funny? award at the 1994 Edinburgh Festival. He has written additional material for series including *Never Mind the Buzzcocks*, *Horrible Histories* and *8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown*, and collaborated with comedians such as Bill Bailey and Sean Lock, co-writing the sitcom *15 Storeys High*. His other acting credits include Lance in *Phoneshop*, roles in *Queens of Mystery* (2019–2021), *Quiz* (2020) and *The Undeclared War* (2022), and appearances in *The Mighty Boosh*, *Midsomer Murders* and *Burnt* (2015).
