## Biography

Martine Brant is a British television writer and producer. She co-created and co-wrote the four-part Channel 4 series *The Devil's Whore* (2008, also known as *The Devil's Mistress* in North America) with Peter Flannery. The drama is set during the English Civil War and follows a fictional aristocratic woman through historical events.

Brant also wrote and served as executive producer on the 2014 sequel series *New Worlds*. She studied history at Newcastle University and completed an MPhil thesis on women in the 16th and 17th centuries. Her work on the series drew inspiration from Wytham Abbey, her family home in Oxfordshire.
