Marty Balin (born Martyn Jerel Buchwald) was an American singer and musician who appeared as himself in several concert documentaries. He performed with Jefferson Airplane in *Monterey Pop* (1968), *Woodstock* (1970) and *Gimme Shelter* (1970).

Balin was also credited as a holographic band singer (as The Jefferson Starship) in *The Star Wars Holiday Special* (1978). He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on 30 January 1942 and died on 27 September 2018.
