Mary Beth Hughes, also credited as Mary Elizabeth Hughes, was an American film, television and stage actress. She was born on 13 November 1919 in Alton, Illinois, and died on 27 August 1995 in Los Angeles.

Hughes began her career on stage while still at school and made her film debut in the late 1930s. She appeared in *The Women* (1939) and signed contracts with MGM and 20th Century Fox. Her most prominent role was as Rose Mapen/Rose Swanson in *The Ox-Bow Incident* (1943). She continued working in films and television through the 1950s and 1960s, with credits including *Young Man with a Horn* (1950) and episodes of *Rawhide* (1959), and remained active until the mid-1970s.
