Mary Clare, born Mary Clare Absalom, was a British actress of stage, film and television. She made her London stage debut in 1910 and her West End debut in 1913 in *Turandot* at the St James's Theatre. She appeared in numerous West End productions and became one of Noël Coward's leading ladies, notably in *Cavalcade* (1931).

In films she was primarily a character actress. Her credits include *Young and Innocent* (1937) as Erica's Aunt Margaret, *The Lady Vanishes* (1938) as Baroness Isabel Nisatona, *Oliver Twist* (1948) as Mrs Corney and *Moulin Rouge* (1952) as Madame Loubet. She also appeared in several silent films, beginning with *The Black Spider* (1920).

Clare continued acting into the late 1950s, dividing her time between stage and screen. She died in 1970.
