## Biography

Mary Ridge was a British television director. Born Eileen Mary Ridge in Preston, Lancashire, she began her career as a production assistant before becoming a director in 1964. Her early credits included episodes of *Thursday Theatre* and more than three dozen instalments of *The Newcomers*.

Ridge directed widely across BBC drama, including *Z Cars*, *Dixon of Dock Green*, *The Brothers* and *Angels*. She served as associate producer on the second series of *The Duchess of Duke Street* in 1977. In the early 1980s she directed six episodes of *Blake's 7* and the four-part *Doctor Who* serial *Terminus* (1983). She retired in the mid-1980s and died in 2000.
