## Biography

Maryam Hamidi is an actor and writer. She studied drama at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh after moving to Scotland at the age of 18.

As an actor she is known for the role of Leyla Brodie in the soap *River City* (2010–2014), the BBC receptionist in *Wild Rose* (2018), Sophia in *The Last Bus* (2021) and Dana Ashraf in *Annika* (2023). As a writer her credits include an episode of the second series of *Vigil* (2023), episodes of *Silverpoint* and *Hollyoaks*, and co-writing on the series *Lockerbie: A Search for Truth* (2025).

She has also written and directed short films including *Bahar* (2021) and is a playwright whose work includes *Moonset* (2023). Hamidi was named one of Screen International’s Rising Stars Scotland in 2024.
