## Biography

Mateus Alves is a Brazilian composer. He is credited as composer on *The Secret Agent* (2025) and *Bacurau* (2019), often collaborating with Tomaz Alves Souza, and contributed to the soundtrack of *Aquarius* (2016).

Alves is from Recife, Pernambuco. He studied at the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, the Conservatório Pernambucano de Música and completed a master's degree in composition at the Royal College of Music in London. He began composing for film in the early 2010s after earlier work as a bassist in instrumental and experimental bands.

His film credits also include *O Clube das Mulheres de Negócios* (2024), *Retrato de um Certo Oriente* (2024) and several shorts.
