Matthew Barbato is an American editor, producer and director. He began working in unscripted television in the 1990s and received a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Sound Editing for a Nonfiction Program for his work on *Trauma: Life in the E.R.*.

His editing credits on scripted series include *The Good Place* (2016–2017), *The Kominsky Method* (2018), *Veep* (2019), *Only Murders in the Building* (2021–), *Lessons in Chemistry* (2023) and *Apples Never Fall* (2024). He also edited the feature *House Party* (2023). He returned to edit episodes of season 4 of *Only Murders in the Building* after working on its first season.

Earlier in his career he worked as a camera operator and director on verité projects, including Anthony Bourdain’s *A Cook’s Tour*.
