## Biography

Matthew Robinson (born 27 July 1944) is a British-Cambodian television and film producer, director and writer. He graduated from King's College, Cambridge, and began working in television in 1966 as a researcher before directing current affairs programmes and numerous drama series and soaps from the 1970s onwards.

He directed two *Doctor Who* stories, *Resurrection of the Daleks* (1984) and *Attack of the Cybermen* (1985). Robinson served as lead director on the launch of *EastEnders* in 1985 and later as its executive producer (1998–2000). He was the first producer of the children's drama series *Byker Grove* (1989–1997).

He subsequently became Head of Drama at BBC Wales. Since 2003 he has been based in Cambodia, where he established the production company Khmer Mekong Films.
