Matthias Schweighöfer is a German actor and filmmaker. He was born on 11 March 1981 in Anklam, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

The son of actors, he began his career with television and film roles in the late 1990s. He gained prominence in German cinema with parts in *Soloalbum* (2003) and *Rabbit Without Ears* (2007), and appeared as Lieutenant Franz Herber in the international production *Valkyrie* (2008).

Schweighöfer has worked in American films including *Army of the Dead* (2021) as Ludwig Dieter, *Oppenheimer* (2023) as Werner Heisenberg, and *Heart of Stone* (2023).
