Maude Eburne, also credited as Maud Eburne Riggs, was a Canadian character actress of stage and screen. Born Maud Eburne Riggs on 10 November 1875 in Bronte-on-the-Lake, Ontario, she began her career in stock theatre in Ontario and New York. She made her Broadway debut in 1914 as Coddles in the farce *A Pair of Sixes* and continued in humorous domestic roles in productions including *The Half Moon* (1920), *Lady Butterfly* (1923), *Three Cheers* (1928) and *Many a Slip* (1930).

Eburne moved to films with her first significant role in the sound remake *The Bat Whispers* (1930). She appeared in more than 100 films, often in supporting parts, until her retirement in 1951. Among her credits are Anna in *To Be or Not to Be* (1942), 'Ma' Pettingill in *Ruggles of Red Gap* (1935), Aunt Gussie Schnappmann in *The Vampire Bat* (1933) and Mrs Packer in *The Suspect* (1945). She died on 15 October 1960 in Hollywood, California.
