## Biography

Maureen Bharoocha is a Los Angeles-based writer and director. Her feature debut was the 2020 arm-wrestling comedy *Golden Arm*. Her second feature, the dark comedy *The Prank*, premiered at SXSW in 2022.

She began her career with the short film *Abajee*, which premiered at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. She previously worked as a segment director on *Jimmy Kimmel Live!* for three seasons and has directed episodes of series including *Saved by the Bell* (2021), *Drama Club*, *Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin*, *Grand Crew* and *High Potential* (2026).

Bharoocha was named to HBO’s 2018 Directors list and IndieWire’s list of Rising Female Directors in 2020. She was nominated for the SXSW 2020 Adam Yauch Hörnblowér Visionary Directing Award and won the Directing Award at the El Paso Film Festival in 2022.
