## Biography

Mauricio Katz is a Mexican writer and producer. He wrote the screenplay for the 2011 feature *Miss Bala*, Mexico’s entry for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. He also co-wrote the series *Niño Santo* (2011–2014).

Katz moved to Los Angeles in 2013. His subsequent television credits include writing and producing on FX’s *The Bridge* (2013–2014), writing episodes of Netflix’s *Maniac* (2018) and co-creating Amazon’s *ZeroZeroZero* (2019–2020). He has written for and served as consulting producer on HBO’s *Perry Mason* (2020) and *Station Eleven* (2021).

Katz has collaborated frequently with writer Pedro Peirano. The pair signed overall deals with HBO in 2022 and Sony Pictures Television in 2025. For his work on *Maniac*, Katz received Writers Guild of America and Producers Guild of America nominations.
