Max Berto was a French production designer and actor. Born on 11 March 1944 in Grenoble, he worked extensively in French cinema and television as a chef décorateur.

His credits include production design on *Loulou* (1980), *Roberte* (1979), *Diesel* (1985) and *Cap Canaille* (1983). He served as art director on *Mr. Frost* (1990) and contributed to later films such as *Boesman and Lena* (2000) and *Suzanne* (2006). Berto also appeared as an actor in several productions, including *Roberte* (1979) and *Hôtel du Paradis* (1986).

He died on 18 November 2013 in Paris.
