Max Gail is an American actor born on 5 April 1943 in Detroit, Michigan. He is best known for playing Detective Stan "Wojo" Wojciehowicz in the sitcom *Barney Miller* (1975–1982), for which he received two consecutive Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

Gail won Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2019 and 2021 for his role as Mike Corbin in the soap opera *General Hospital*. His feature film credits include *D.C. Cab* (1983) as Harold and *42* (2013) as Burt Shotton. He appeared as Roger MacNeil, Forrest's father, in the series *Review* (2014–2017).

He trained at Williams College, where he earned a BA, and the University of Michigan, where he earned an MBA. Gail began his career on stage, including a role in the original production of *One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest*.
