## Biography

Max Marquis is a British writer of television scripts, screenplays and novels. His early credits include an episode of the series *The Avengers* (1961) and the screenplay for the film *Strongroom* (1962). He also wrote four episodes of *Silent Evidence* (1962) and contributed to *The Alfred Hitchcock Hour*.

Marquis wrote extensively for British television in the 1960s and 1970s, including 54 episodes of *United!* (1965–1967), episodes of *Z Cars* (1968), *Champion House* (1967–1968) and *Vendetta* (1968), and later work on series such as *General Hospital* and *The Doctors*. He worked as a script editor on several productions and wrote under the pseudonym Edward F. Barnes for episodes of *Crossroads* (1981–1982).

He is also the author of mystery and crime novels, some published under pseudonyms including Michael Meath, and non-fiction works on sport.
