## Biography

Maxima Basu is an Indian costume designer. She began her career in film as an assistant director on *Slumdog Millionaire* (2008) and *Ship of Theseus* (2012), before transitioning to costume design.

She has worked on Sanjay Leela Bhansali films including *Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela* (2013) and *Bajirao Mastani* (2015), the latter earning her a Filmfare Award for Best Costume Design. Basu designed the costumes for *Dangal* (2016) after replacing the original designers on the production. Her other credits include *Padmaavat* (2018), *Raazi* (2018), *Laal Singh Chaddha* (2022) and *All We Imagine as Light* (2024).

Basu is from a Bengali-speaking family in Delhi and is an alumna of Kalindi College, Delhi University, and the Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication.
