Maya Forbes is an American screenwriter, producer and director. Born on 23 July 1968 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, she graduated from Harvard University, where she wrote for the Harvard Lampoon.

Forbes began her career as a writer on the HBO series *The Larry Sanders Show* (1992), contributing multiple episodes and serving as co-executive producer in later seasons. She received Emmy and Writers Guild of America Award nominations for her work on the show. Her other writing credits include the screenplays for *The Rocker* (2008) and *Monsters vs. Aliens* (2009). She made her directorial debut with *Infinitely Polar Bear* (2014), which she also wrote, and later directed *The Polka King* (2017). She is married to writer and director Wallace Wolodarsky, with whom she frequently collaborates.
