## Biography

Meadhbh McHugh is an Irish playwright and screenwriter. She wrote five episodes of the 2022 BBC and Hulu series *Conversations with Friends*, an adaptation of Sally Rooney’s novel produced by Element Pictures.

McHugh’s stage work includes the 2018 adaptation of Louise O’Neill’s novel *Asking for It*, co-created with Annabelle Comyn and produced by Landmark Productions, The Everyman and the Abbey Theatre. Her debut play *Helen and I* (2016) was staged by Druid Theatre Company and transferred to the Dublin Theatre Festival. Her radio play *April Showers* (2014) won a P.J. O’Connor Award.

She holds a PhD in Theatre from Columbia University (2021) and is a graduate of The Lir Academy and Trinity College Dublin.
