## Biography

Megan Abbott is an American author and screenwriter. She has written numerous crime fiction novels, including *Dare Me* (2012) and *You Will Know Me* (2016), and won an Edgar Award in 2008.

Abbott served as a staff writer and story editor on the HBO series *The Deuce* (2017–2018). She later adapted her novel *Dare Me* for television, acting as co-showrunner and executive producer on the 2019–2020 USA Network series.

Born in the Detroit area in 1971, Abbott graduated from the University of Michigan and holds a PhD in English and American literature from New York University. She has also written for publications including the *Los Angeles Times* and *The New York Times*.
