## Biography

Mehmet Emin Toprak was a Turkish film actor. He appeared in three films directed by his cousin Nuri Bilge Ceylan: *The Small Town* (1997) and *Clouds of May* (1999), both as Saffet, and *Distant* (2002) as Yusuf.

Toprak died in a car accident on 2 December 2002 at the age of 28, shortly after completing *Distant*. He shared the Best Actor prize at the 2003 Cannes Film Festival with his co-star Muzaffer Özdemir, and won Best Supporting Actor at the 2002 Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival for his performance in *Distant*.
