Melanie Paxson is an American actress. She was born on 26 September 1972 in Champaign, Illinois, and graduated with a bachelor's degree in theatre from the University of Missouri. She later trained at the Second City in Chicago and performed with the Steppenwolf Theatre Company.

Paxson is known for her recurring television roles in series including *Cupid* (1998–1999), *Happy Family* (2003–2004) and *Notes from the Underbelly* (2007–2008), as well as guest appearances in *Bones*, *CSI: Crime Scene Investigation* and *Last Man Standing*. Her film credits include *Saving Mr. Banks* (2013) as Dolly. She has also appeared in numerous television commercials.

She portrays the Fairy Godmother in the *Descendants* film series, appearing in *Descendants* (2015), *Descendants 2* (2017), *Descendants 3* (2019), *Descendants: The Rise of Red* (2024) and *Descendants: Wicked Wonderland* (2026).
