## Biography

Meredith Averill is an American television writer and producer. Born in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, she graduated from New York University with a degree in screenwriting.

She began her career as an assistant to television writer/producers André Nemec and Josh Appelbaum, then wrote episodes of *Samurai Girl* (2008), *Life on Mars* (2008–09) and *Happy Town* (2010). Averill spent three years on *The Good Wife* (2009) as a writer and producer, advancing from story editor to producer. In 2013 she signed an overall deal with CBS Television Studios and created the series *Star-Crossed* (2014).

Subsequent credits include work on *Jane the Virgin*, *Pure Genius*, *The Haunting of Hill House* (2018) and *Locke & Key* (2020–2022), where she served as co-showrunner and developer. She has received Writers Guild of America Award nominations and won a Bram Stoker Award for the screenplay of an episode of *The Haunting of Hill House*.
