Michael Cochrane is an English actor born on 19 May 1947 in Brighton, Sussex. He was educated at Cranleigh School and has appeared in numerous British television and radio productions since the 1970s.

He is known for roles including Oliver Sterling in the Radio 4 soap opera *The Archers*, Sir Henry Simmerson in the *Sharpe* series, and appearances in *Doctor Who* as Charles Cranleigh in "Black Orchid" (1982) and Redvers Fenn-Cooper in "Ghost Light" (1989). Film credits include *Escape to Victory* (1981), *The Iron Lady* (2011) and *Living* (2022) as Sir James. He has also appeared in *The Crown* (2016) as Vice Provost Sir Henry Marten and *Downton Abbey* (2010) as Reverend Travis.

Cochrane is married to the actress Belinda Carroll.
