## Biography

Michael Colgan is a Northern Irish actor. He was born in Keady, County Armagh, and trained at l'École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris after studying English at Corpus Christi College, Oxford. He has worked extensively in theatre, including productions at the Abbey Theatre, the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Donmar Warehouse.

Colgan is known for roles including Older Gerry Adams in the 2024 series *Say Nothing*, Mikhail Shchadov in the 2019 miniseries *Chernobyl*, an IRA lieutenant in *The Crown* (2020), and appearances in *Marcella* (2020), *The Regime* (2024) and *This England* (2022). He has also featured in films such as *Good Vibrations* (2012) and *Urchin* (2025). Under his birth name Michael Hughes he has published novels including *Country* (2018).
