## Biography

Michael Conner Humphreys is an American actor. Born on 1 March 1985 in Independence, Mississippi, he was selected at the age of eight for the role of young Forrest Gump in the 1994 film *Forrest Gump* following an open casting call in Memphis, Tennessee. Tom Hanks emulated Humphreys's Southern accent and mannerisms for the adult character.

Humphreys received a nomination for a Young Artist Award for the performance. He enlisted in the US Army in 2004 and served four years as an infantryman, including an 18-month deployment to Iraq. His later screen credits include the 2011 film *Pathfinders: In the Company of Strangers* and a self appearance in the 2019 series *The Movies That Made Us*.
