Michael Crawford (born Michael Patrick Smith, 19 January 1942) is an English actor, comedian and singer. He played Frank Spencer in the BBC sitcom *Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em* (1973–1978) and originated the title role in Andrew Lloyd Webber's *The Phantom of the Opera* on the West End and Broadway.

His other screen credits include Cornelius Hackl in the film *Hello, Dolly!* (1969) and the lead in *Condorman* (1981). Crawford received the Laurence Olivier Award and Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for *The Phantom of the Opera*, and was appointed CBE in 2014 for charitable services.
