Michael Crompton is a British screenwriter, producer and occasional actor. Born on 11 April 1959 in Canterbury, Kent, he has written for numerous British television series over several decades.

His credits include the screenplay for one episode of *Midsomer Murders* (2008), an episode of *New Tricks* (2013), and the two-part factual drama *Code of a Killer* (2015), which he also executive produced and for which he received a WGGB Award for Best Short Form Drama. He has contributed multiple episodes to *Silent Witness* (2003–2023) and created and wrote the four-part thriller *The Catch* (2023). Other work includes *The Holiday* (2022), *Safe House* (2015) and *Kidnap and Ransom* (2012).

Earlier credits encompass adaptations such as *Carrie's War* (2004) and *A Likeness in Stone* (2000), as well as episodes of *The Bill* and *Murphy's Law*. He has also written for theatre and BBC radio.
