Michael Cumpsty is an English actor. He was born on 26 February 1960 in Wakefield, Yorkshire, and was educated at Haileybury College before receiving a BA in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1982.

Cumpsty made his Broadway debut in *Artist Descending a Staircase* (1989).
