Michael Haley is an American assistant director, actor and producer. Born on 22 September 1942 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, he has worked extensively as a first assistant director, notably on ten feature films and two television movies directed by Mike Nichols.

His credits include first assistant director on *Groundhog Day* (1993), *A League of Their Own* (1992), *Closer* (2004) and *Charlie Wilson's War* (2007). He also appeared uncredited as the Smoking Man in *Closer* (2004), where he served as co-producer, and has taken small acting roles in other films. Haley has received Emmy recognition for his work.
