## Biography

Michael Hoenig is a German composer and electronic musician. Born in Hamburg in 1952, he first gained recognition in the 1970s as a member of the progressive rock group Agitation Free and through a brief collaboration with Tangerine Dream. He released the solo album *Departure from the Northern Wasteland* in 1978 before moving to Los Angeles around 1980.

Hoenig has composed scores for numerous films and television series, including *The Blob* (1988), *The Gate* (1987), *The Wraith* (1986) and *Class of 1999* (1990). He contributed additional music and served as musical director on Godfrey Reggio’s *Koyaanisqatsi* (1982), for which he is also credited with the scenario. He received a Primetime Emmy nomination for the main title theme of the series *Dark Skies* (1996–97). Hoenig owns a recording studio in Los Angeles and has also composed for video games such as the *Baldur’s Gate* series.
