## Biography

Michael Imison is a retired British television director and literary agent. Born on 9 February 1935 in Hoylake, Cheshire, he attended Exeter College, Oxford.

He began his career at the BBC in the Script Department. Under contract as a director he worked on *Compact* and a serial adaptation of Thomas Mann's *Buddenbrooks*. His final directorial assignment for the BBC was the *Doctor Who* serial *The Ark* (1966). He subsequently served as story editor on the second series of the science-fiction anthology *Out of the Unknown*.

Imison later became a literary agent, founding Michael Imison Playwrights Limited.
