## Biography

Michael J. Leeson (1947–2016) was an American screenwriter and television producer. He began writing for episodic television in the early 1970s, contributing to series including *Love, American Style*, *All in the Family*, *The Partridge Family*, *The Odd Couple*, *Happy Days*, *The Mary Tyler Moore Show*, *Phyllis* and *Rhoda*.

Leeson wrote multiple episodes of *Taxi* (1978–1980) and received Emmy Awards for his work on the series and on *The Cosby Show* (1984), which he co-created. His screenplays include *The Survivors* (1983), *The War of the Roses* (1989), *I.Q.* (1994), *What Planet Are You From?* (2000) and *The Tuxedo* (2002). He also created the series *Grand* and *The Bill Engvall Show*.
