## Biography

Michael J. Shea is a television director and assistant director. He directed four episodes of *How I Met Your Mother* (2008–2013) and served as first assistant director on 202 episodes of the series (2005–2014). He has also directed episodes of series including *Men at Work* (2012), *The Thundermans* (2013), *Young & Hungry* (2014), *9JKL* (2017) and *Carol's Second Act* (2019), and worked as first assistant director on *How I Met Your Father* (2022–2023).

Shea is a member of the Directors Guild of America. He is the son of the late sitcom director and former DGA president Jack Shea. He attended Loyola Marymount University and placed first in the 2001 UCLA Professional Program in Screenwriting Contest.
