Michael J. Weithorn is an American writer, producer and director. He was born on 17 December 1956 in Queens, New York, and graduated from Swarthmore College in 1978 with a degree in political science. After teaching high school for three years in Los Angeles, he began writing for television with an episode of Benson in 1981.

Weithorn worked on Family Ties from 1982 to 1986 as a writer and producer. He wrote episodes for Cheers, winning a Writers Guild of America Award for Episodic Comedy in 1985, and for The Wonder Years in 1988. He created several series, including The King of Queens (1998–2007), which he executive produced and for which he wrote multiple episodes. His feature film A Little Help (2010), which he wrote and directed, won awards at several festivals. He has received five Primetime Emmy nominations.
