Michael McGowan was a cinematographer and camera operator. Born on 6 January 1946 in Jersey City, New Jersey, he worked on numerous feature films and television productions, frequently as a camera operator on titles including *Caddyshack* (1980), *Pretty Baby* (1978), *The River* (1984) and *The Last of the Mohicans* (1992). He served as director of photography on episodes of the series *Miami Vice* (1984) between 1987 and 1989, and on the series *Super Force* (1990–1991).

McGowan died on 17 November 2008 in Lecanto, Florida. He was a member of IATSE Local 600.
