## Biography

Michael Owen Morris was a British television director and production manager. He began his career as an actor before joining the BBC as an assistant floor manager. He later worked as a production assistant on series including *Doctor Who* (on *The Pirate Planet*, 1978) and *Blake's 7*, and as production manager on *Tenko* (1981). After completing the BBC's directors' course, he directed his first episodes, including *Angels* and the *Doctor Who* serial *The Awakening* (1984).

Morris directed extensively across British television, with credits on *Coronation Street* (1994), *Campion* (1989–1990), *Casualty* (from 1988), *The Bill*, *Wycliffe*, *Holby City* and others. He became a regular director on *EastEnders* from 2003, helming more than 240 episodes through 2023, as well as the spin-off *EastEnders: Pat and Mo* (2004) and serving as producer on several episodes in 2004. He died on 5 July 2026 in the United Kingdom.
