Michael Rennie (born Eric Alexander Rennie) was a British actor. He was born on 25 August 1909 in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, and died on 10 June 1971 in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

Rennie began his career with a stand-in role in Alfred Hitchcock’s *Secret Agent* (1936). He gained stage experience in repertory theatre before appearing in British films such as *I'll Be Your Sweetheart* (1945). He moved to Hollywood in the early 1950s under contract to 20th Century-Fox.

He is known for his leading role as Klaatu in *The Day the Earth Stood Still* (1951) and for playing Peter in *The Robe* (1953) and its sequel *Demetrius and the Gladiators* (1954). Rennie also appeared in television series including *Batman* (1966) as the Sandman and *Bonanza* (1959).
