Michael Russell Gunn is a writer, producer and director. He wrote, directed and produced the 2026 historical drama *The Brink of War*, his feature directorial debut, which depicts the 1986 Reykjavík Summit between Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev.

Gunn has worked extensively in television. His writing credits include episodes of *Black Sails* (2014), *The Whispers* (2015), *Designated Survivor* (2016), *Billions* (2016) and the miniseries *Thai Cave Rescue* (2022), on which he also served as creator and showrunner. He has produced on *Designated Survivor*, *Black Sails* and *Thai Cave Rescue*, and worked as a story editor on *The Newsroom* (2012).
