## Biography

Michael Russell is a television writer and producer. He read English at Oxford before spending three years working in farming in North Devon. He joined Yorkshire Television as a script editor on *Emmerdale Farm*, rising to series producer, and later worked in the drama department as script consultant and producer.

He left ITV to write full-time. His television writing credits include episodes of *Between the Lines* (1992), *Heartbeat* (1993–1994), *A Touch of Frost* (1995–2010, including the final episode), *Midsomer Murders* (2002–2009) and *Foyle's War* (2003). He has received one award for his work.
