## Biography

Michael S. Chernuchin is an American television writer and producer. He was born on 3 October 1954 in Washington, District of Columbia. He holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College, an M.A. in English from the University of Michigan, and a J.D. from Cornell Law School.

Chernuchin began his television career as a staff writer on the series *Eddie Dodd* in 1991 before joining *Law & Order* (1990) as a writer, story editor and later producer. He contributed numerous episodes across multiple seasons, including writing, story and teleplay credits. He later worked as a consulting producer and writer on *24* (2001).

His other credits include writing for *Law & Order: Special Victims Unit*, *Law & Order: Criminal Intent*, *Black Sails* and *Marco Polo*, as well as serving as showrunner on *Law & Order: Special Victims Unit* (seasons 19–20) and *Chicago Justice*. He is married to writer Janis Diamond.
