## Biography

Michael Seymour was a British production designer. Born in Southampton in 1932, he died on 9 December 2018.

He is best known for his work on *Alien* (1979), for which he won a BAFTA Award for Best Production Design and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Art Direction. His other credits as production designer include *Theatre of Blood* (1973), *Eureka* (1983), *The Bride* (1985), *Revenge* (1990), *Mr. Destiny* (1990), *Beverly Hills Cop III* (1994) and *Out for a Kill* (2003).

Seymour began in art direction on films such as *Robbery* (1967), *Isadora* (1968) and *The Bed Sitting Room* (1969). He had previously collaborated with Ridley Scott on television commercials before designing the sets for *Alien*.
