## Biography

Michael Tolan (born Seymour Tuchow) was an American actor. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, on 27 November 1925 and died in Hudson, New York, on 31 January 2011.

Tolan graduated from Wayne State University and studied under Stella Adler and at Stanford University. He began his career in radio and stage work in Detroit before moving to New York, where he made his Broadway debut in *Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?* (1955). He helped found the American Place Theatre.

His film roles included *Julius Caesar* (1953), *The Greatest Story Ever Told* (1965), *All That Jazz* (1979) as Dr. Ballinger, *Presumed Innocent* (1990) and *Perfect Stranger* (2007). He appeared frequently on television in series such as *Mission: Impossible*, *Kojak*, *Law & Order* and *Murder, She Wrote*.
