## Biography

Michael Visaroff was a Russian-born character actor who worked in the United States on stage and screen. Born Mikhail Semenonovich Vizarov in Moscow on 18 December 1889, he graduated from the Russian Principal Dramatic School and began his career on stage. He arrived in the United States in July 1922 with a troupe from the Kamerny Theatre in Moscow.

Visaroff made his film debut in 1925 and appeared in more than 110 films until 1952. His credited roles include Count Borsinov in *Disraeli* (1929). He is also noted for uncredited parts such as the innkeeper in *Dracula* (1931), Jean in *Freaks* (1932) and the innkeeper in *Mark of the Vampire* (1935), as well as appearances in *Morocco* (1930), *The Flying Deuces* (1939), *Woman of the Year* (1942) and *For Whom the Bell Tolls* (1943). He died in Hollywood, California, on 27 February 1951.
