## Biography

Michael W. Horsten is a Danish screenwriter and director. He graduated from the screenwriting programme at the National Film School of Denmark in 1996.

He is best known as a main screenwriter on the crime series *The Killing* (Forbrydelsen, 2007–2012), contributing to all three seasons. His other credits include co-writing the features *Freddy Frogface* (2011) and *The Shooter* (2013), and screenplays for series such as *Gidseltagningen* (2017).

Earlier in his career he wrote and directed several short films for children, including *Tilbage til byen* (1999) and *Lille far* (2004). He collaborated with director Henrik Ruben Genz on the Oscar-nominated short *Theis and Nico* (Bror, min bror, 1998) and directed episodes of *Hotellet* and *Nikolaj og Julie*.
